BitLims Details

BitLims is an online distributed cloud platform the provides a comprehensive lab management platform for it's clients. This project presented a number of challenges that we had to overcome, the first of which is that the labs wanted to run a local version in the lab (because of fear of internet issues, which was a prominent issue in the area) and an online version so that the management can monitor the lab's performance from anywhere, and it was my responsibility to make that happen, so I created a data synchronization model that I implemented in all the local servers, this model included a combination of efficient database design, Linux server crop job management and data integrity checks, this model allowed for a seamless functionality in the system and satisfactory results for the customers. BitLims also included multiple learning opportunities on how to best migrate the functionality of an entire institution from an old system that they were using for 10+ years, and into a new modern one with minimal overhead and obstruction of everyday tasks of the lab.
